We finished off 2010 with Project Knitway. I love the first big snow of the year with all it brings, a snow day, cozy fires, a big batch of chili and time spent with my family. A favorite garment in our household is a continuous scarf that I knit on my knitting machines. You can wrap up in the scarf, wear it as a shawl and stay toasty warm. I decided that everyone should have one of these scarves to keep safe and warm in, so I started my project. I'm knitting these scarves for area shelters. Initially I offered a 50% off coupon to my customers if they donated two skeins of yarn for the scarves. The response was overwhelming. I have knit and distributed almost 200 scarves thus far. The project has taken on a life of its own, one which I plan to continue as a Nextdoor community event. Currently the proceeds from the sale of my hand loomed pieces you see here will go toward the production of these scarves. Thanks for your support in helping me stick to my knitting.
